Laugh Attack Hosts

Nicole McCallum
Roving Reporter & Procurer of "Quick Schtick"

Tall, sarcastic, full of questions and armed with stilettos and a microphone……what else can really be said? I left my bio short and sweet, something about me has to be short...Working on the sweet!

Favorite Comedians: Svetlana Pupkina, Mike Wilmot, Nikki Payne, Glenn Wool, Allyson Smith, Matt Billon

Comedy Influences: old-school British humour in the vein of Monty Python and other truly sarcastic gits….

John Melville
Host & Producer: The Best of British Comedy, History of Monty Python's Flying Circus, "Tea Time"

Born and raised in the UK, John Melville spent his primary years in Edinburgh, Scotland, home of the world famous “Edinburgh Fringe” where the world congregates every August for a month of comic madness.  Each day, John presents the new and emerging British comics to Laugh Attack listeners, along with the formative classics like Monty Python’s Flying Circus, the Goon Show and the many others from the past 5 decades who made Britain one of the great world leaders in making people laugh.  “It’s quite something” Melville adds, “There are many Canadian comics who have relocated to the UK to take advantage of the many clubs and short travel distances to deliver their unique brand of self-deprecating, Canadian observer humour (spelled the Canadian way)”  Listen to the Best of British comedy on Laugh Attack throughout the day and particularly at “TEA TIME” between 4 and 6 eastern each day of the week.

Favorite Comedians: Harry Enfield, Stephen Wright, Jerry Seinfeld, Harland Williams

Comedy Influences: Monty Python, Benny Hill, The Goon Show, Carry –On series.

Ben Miner
"I talk to people"

Ben Miner is a ridiculous human being. When he’s not patrolling the city decked out in his replica Spider-Man costume saving pedestrians from menacing looking pigeons he can be found on-air or on a comedy club stage. He’s been with Laugh Attack since day 1 and has hosted a variety of shows such as Chomping @ The Bit, The Vinyl Cut and Comic Stripped as well various segments and specials.  Ben’s a stand-up comic first and foremost though. He’s been performing since 1998 and in that time he’s toured coast to coast in every club you can think of and he’s even performed at the Montreal Just for Laughs comedy festival. Ben’s also an award-winning gangsta-rap artist having performed everywhere from the Apollo Theatre in New York to Dubai and everywhere in between. Ok, part of this bio might not be true. Just saying. Alright, good chat.

Favorite Comedians: Mitch Hedberg, Tom Stade, Dave Attell, Todd Barry, Andy Kindler, Ian Bagg, Roseanne, Lawanda Page – too many to list

Comedy Influences:Adam Sandler, Mitch Hedberg, Tom Stade

Aron "Paperboy" Papernick
Producer

Born on the mean streets of North York and raised in war-torn South Central Thornhill, The Paperboy is no stranger to danger. Despite all odds, he survived his harsh environment and had a childhood that some would call normal. Normal, until he discovered actual comedy, that is. When The Paperboy first saw “Raising Arizona”, his worldview changed. The comedy stylings of The Smurfs and G.I. Joe would no longer cut it. The Paperboy craved material that was actually funny, original, and “off” the “wall”.

Now that The Paperboy has “grown” into a “productive” member of “society”, he brings his cynical worldview and skeptical eye to Laugh Attack XM 153, hoping to give other troubled youths the same intermittent bursts of joy and laughter that brightened his days as a child.

Favorite Comedians: Mike Wilmot, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler

Comedy Influences:The Simpsons, SCTV, ZAZ Films, The Coen Brothers, selected periods of Saturday Night Live, Monty Python, Gene Simmons, Joey Jeremiah

Svetlana Pupkina
Hostess

Rumors are saying that she was a ballerina in Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow performing in “ Sleeping Svetlana” and “Swine Lake” .  After Cold War was over she became a member of Russian Spy Network and went to North America on a mission as undercover agent.   Later she was arrested. US was trying to swap her but Russia didn’t want her back because she was born in Ukraine. So, she bought a Canadian Passport and moved to Canada.

Favorite Comedians: Vladimir Lenin,  Mikhail Gorbachev, Vladimir Putin.

Comedy Influences: Communist Party of Soviet Union, Russian Vodka and Ukrainian Borsch.

Dan Busheikin

Dan hails from the humble city of Calgary, but has been living in Toronto for the past three years.  In 2009 he joined andPOP as a video editor, interviewer, and producer for Side B, a section of andPOP dedicated to independent and alternative music. He prides himself on being the least shallow and ignorant member of the andPOP Radio team, but regularly finds that he is no better than his womanizing comrades. Dan’s job is to sit at the computer and watch audio waveforms as Chris and Jordan talk pop culture, but they’ve increasingly encouraged him to participate and talk on the show, probably out of pity.

Favorite Comedians: Larry David, Louis C.K

Comedy Influences: Seinfeld, The Simpsons Seasons 2-11 , self-loathing

Jordan Bortolotti

Chris Rochon

Grew up in Montreal. Got his start in radio in 2004 when he worked at the TEAM 990 sports radio station in Montreal during the summer. He began doing interviews in the streets. Think of jay walking from the Jay Leno show. He came to Toronto in 2004 to study at Ryerson University at the famous Radio and Television Arts program.  Right after completion of the degree went on to work on many TV shows such as Canadian Idol, So You Think You Can Dance Canada to name a few. Currently is working on a few projects in development with co-host Jordan so look out for them in the future.  Chris loves popular culture and sports. His Ipod is filled with Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Coldplay and a lot of country music. Most of his other music comes from watching One Tree Hill and Smallville.
